Established in 2011 by Area 10 Agency on Aging to provide perpetual support of the organization's mission to serve as a leader in providing resources, solutions, and connections for seniors, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers living in Owen County. This fund provides support to ongoing charitable services, projects, and activities for local senior citizens.

The Owen Valley Band and Guard Boosters Fund supports the students, directors, and families of the Owen Valley High School band and color guard, raising funds to support and maintain a high quality band and color guard program and removing financial barriers from participation.
Donate Bennie J & Joan R Woodruff Methodist Church Fund
This fund was established in 2002 as a bequeath by donors Bennie and Joan Woodruff to provide an annual automatic grant to the Spencer Indiana United Methodist Church. The church, which is located on North Montgomery Street in Spencer began as a house church in 1818; currently occupying a historic limestone building built in 1895.
Donate Bonness Family Fund
Barbara Bonness, a member of the Board of Directors at the Owen County Community Foundation, established the Bonness Family Fund in 2014 in loving memory of her late husband, Robert. This fund helps to support the operations of the Owen County Community Foundation by issuing an annual grant to OCCF.

Established in 2017 by Carole Cassida to provide upkeep, repair, and restoration of the historic Carolina Cemetery in Morgan Township. Purposes include, but are limited to, beautifying the cemetery, replacing deteriorating headstones, historical preservation, or community education about the history of Carolina Cemetery.

Funds support the Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative (JDAI) project through Owen County Court Services. A proven model, JADI focuses on the reallocation of public resources from mass incarceration toward investment in youth, families, and communities. This reinvestment provides an opportunity for lasting improvement to public safety.

This fund was established in 1998 to act as a facilitator for economic development for Owen County. This fund works directly with Owen County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development to payout a designated grant each year to aid in their various programs all to benefit the county.

This fund was established in 2008 in loving memory of Flona Everly Query, formerly of Spencer. This fund was created to support to provide perpetual support in the form of an annual grant to the Vandalia Community Preservation Association to preserve and maintain the Vandalia Chapel and Vandalia School.
  Donate Garrard Chapel Church & Food Pantry Fund
This fund was established in 2017 to provide an annual grant to the Garrad Chapel Church. The grant is evenly divided between the church, for operations, and for the food pantry. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Garrard Chapel Food Pantry distributed nearly $3 million in food to Owen County.

This fund was established in 1997 by the Boston Scientific branch in Spencer to provide grants for projects that seek to improve childcare resources and availability in Owen County. Grant funds may be used for teacher training, supplies, materials, and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
Donate Cancer Support Fund of Owen County
Begun in 2007 as a special way to celebrate the short but full life of Zachary Tucker. Established by his grandparents, Gib and Phyllis Tucker, to provide immediate financial assistance to Owen County residents who are patients undergoing treatment for cancer (or parent/guardian if the patient is a minor). A referral from a licensed medical cancer treatment center must accompany an application for a grant from this fund.

This fund stands to help the local community by providing support for charitable projects in Cataract and Jennings Township. Past grants include support of Area 10 Agency on Aging's Rural Transit and the Cataract VFD's fire-training tower.

This fund was established in 2016 by Kassie Smithey to provide perpetual support to child advocacy centers that are dedicated to supporting and helping victims of child abuse overcome these hardships. One such organization, Susie's Place, offers such services to Owen County's youth in need.

Established by Emery and Ruby Bland, this Endowed Field of Interest Fund will provide financial support to families whose children have incurred medical expenses, including but not limited to, medical equipment, medical assistance, or short-term financial assistance stemming from an unanticipated medical emergency expense. When funds are available to disburse, OCCF staff will ensure that hospital social workers and other appropriate organizations are aware of this source of funds for families in need of assistance; funds will be distributed through this intermediary.

Donate Bennie J & Joan R Woodruff Scholarship Fund
Bennie J. Woodruff established a Charitable Remainder Trust in 2001 with the intent of leaving behind a charitable legacy. Upon his passing, in 2017 the remainder of the trust became the Bennie J & Joan R Woodruff Scholarship Fund which provides an annual scholarship to 4-year accredited Indiana college or university awarded to an Owen County resident, graduating high school senior with strong academics, a record of good community service, and a financial need.

Donate Braysville Homemakers Scholarship
The Braysville Homemakers group is a local community service organization that is sponsored by Purdue University. The Braysville Homemakers Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 and exists to provide support for a graduating Owen County high school senior who plans to pursue a 2-year vocational/technical degree, with a preference toward students who demonstrate financial need.

Donate Burns Family Scholarship
In 2011, Gosport's John Burns and family established this fund to award a scholarship to an Owen County resident pursing a vocational, technical degree, 2-year, or certificate through an accredited program, school, or university that is intended to improve the applicant's earning potential. Preference will be given to adult applicants returning to formal education; current graduating high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement are also eligible.

This fund was established in 2007 by Barbara Cooper in honor and loving memory of her husband and long-time law enforcement professional Charles "Chuck" Cooper. The Charles T. Cooper Scholarship awards an annual scholarship to Owen Valley High School graduating seniors who will pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited college or university.

This fund was established by Carolyn K. Edwards in 1998 to honor her late husband and prominent attorney of Spencer, Charles W. Edwards. This scholarship provides an award to an Owen Count resident who will be a college sophomore, junior, or senior, or who is an adult returning to college. The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited law school or related undergraduate program in a field such as criminology, criminal justice, or paralegal.

Donate Clinton & Louise Abrell Scholarship
This fund was established in 2021 by Tom & Jennifer Abrell to honor Tom's late parents: Clinton and Louise Abrell. The fund awards an annual scholarship to an Owen County graduating senior who demonstrates a strong work ethic, personal responsibility, and a minimum 2.0 GPA. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need.

This fund was established in 2005 by the Coyne Family, of Gosport. This fund awards an annual scholarship to a post-secondary student who has been accepted into or is currently enrolled in an undergraduate teacher education program. Preference is given to those with a focus on special education studies.

This fund was established in 2003 by David Campell Gray, of Gosport to award a scholarship to residents of Gosport or Wayne Township, Indiana, who are graduating seniors of Owen Valley High School and who are pursuing continuing education at the college or university level.

Donate Dick (Mr. Dyar) & Sue Dyar Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by John and Sylvia Dyar to honor a couple well known in the Spencer and Bloomington communities for their many years of dedicated service to the education and medical community. The scholarship provides financial assistance to a qualified student graduating from Owen Valley High School who has shown proficiency in the sciences and desires to continue studies in the life sciences.

In 2011, siblings Steve and Rhonda Dyer along with the Dyer family established this fund to award a scholarship to an Owen County resident who is a graduating senior attending Owen Valley High School. This is a donor-advised scholarship. This multi-year scholarship is given to a graduating senior of Owen Valley High School student who is pursuing a two or four-year accredited college program or vocational school. The preference is for a strong academic student that displays grit.

Donate Elliott Hickam Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in 2000 in honor and loving memory of prominent attorney and personality of Spencer, Elliott Hickam, whose grandfather founded Hickam & Lorenz (then Hickam & Hickam) in 1878. This scholarship provides funding to an Owen Valley High School graduating senior who demonstrates leadership and who plans to pursue a four-year degree from Indiana University.
  Donate EPIC Scholarship Fund
The EPIC "Educators Philanthropic Investment Chapter" Scholarship is partially funded through the payroll deduction partnership that the OCCF shares with the Spencer-Owen Community Schools Corporation. This scholarship is awarded to an Owen County resident, graduating senior of Owen Valley High School who will pursue a four-year teacher education degree at an accredited college or university.

Donate Erika Wells Memorial Scholarship
The Erika Wells Memorial Scholarship was created by Owen County State Bank in loving memory of Erika Diane Wells, who tragically passed away in an accident in 2016. This general academic scholarship is awarded to an Owen Valley High School graduating senior who has demonstrated strength in academics, leadership, and community service.

Donate Freedom Alumni Scholarship
The Freedom Alumni Scholarship Fund was created in 1998 in honor of the many years that Freedom High School served Freedom/Franklin Township students. This scholarship is available to Owen County resident, graduating seniors of Owen Valley High School who will pursue a four-year degree at an accredited college or university. Applicants should be descended from an alumnus of Freedom High School, Freedom, IN; however, if no applicants meet the descendency requirement, the scholarship will be awarded to a deserving OVHS student. Financial need is a tie-breaker.

This award was established in 2014 by the McCarter family in memory of Gary McCarter, a graduate of Patricksburg High School and Indiana State University. Gary was a family man and enjoyed great success in a long career in the insurance industry. His family wanted to help students from Gary’s home community continue their education by providing a scholarship to a student with a 2.0 GPA or better who demonstrated financial need. Preference for a B student.

This fund was established in 2014 by the late George & Nancy Thurston, of Spencer. The Thurstons enjoyed the arts during their lives and wanted to support students to continue developing their artistic skills in a very wide range of disciplines. This fund awards a multi-year scholarship to an Owen County graduating senior who plans to study fine arts in an accredited two- or four-year college program or vocational/trade school.

This scholarship was established in 2013 by Owen County native, Geraldine Bucklew, who passed away in March 2021. Geraldine's legacy lives on through this multi-year scholarship which is to be awarded to an individual of any age who is an Owen County resident and who currently attends an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university.

The Gosport Alumni Scholarship Fund was created in 1998 in honor of the many years that Gosport High School served Gosport/Wayne/Harrison Township students from 1903 to 1970. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Owen Valley High School who will pursue a four-year degree at an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to applicants who live in Gosport, Wayne & Harrison Townships.

This need-based scholarship is open to Owen Valley High School graduating seniors who reside in the Town of Gosport or Wayne Township and who will attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university.
  Donate Ione W. Fulk Scholarship
The Ione W. Fulk Scholarship has been awarded since 2005 to an Owen County resident who is pursuing a career in teaching and is a current college student enrolled in an undergraduate teacher education program, preferably elementary education at an accredited Indiana college or university. The scholarship was funded by a bequest from Ione Wells Fulk, who was a lifetime resident of Owen County and who taught first grade for 34 years.
Donate James P. Root Scholarship
When Reverend Root retired, the congregation of Spencer Christian Church established a scholarship in his honor in 2002. This scholarship is awarded to a resident of Owen, Monroe, Green, or Lawrence Co. who will be attending a Christian-based college or seminary to pursue a career in Christian ministry or to gain a Christian perspective for any career of their choosing. A letter of recommendation is required for all applicants. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors, adults, and current postsecondary students who demonstrate financial need.

  Donate Jefferson Township / Coal City Alumni Scholarship
The Coal City Alumni Scholarship Fund was created in 1998 in honor of the many years that Coal City High School served Coal City/Jefferson Township students up until 1965. This scholarship is available to Owen County residents, who will pursue a degree at an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical program. Applicants must be descended from an alumnus of Coal City High School, Coal City, IN or reside in Jefferson Township, Owen County, IN.

This post-secondary scholarship is open to Owen County residents who will be enrolled as Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors at Indiana State University or to Owen County adults returning to school to pursue an undergraduate degree at Indiana State University. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need; who will pursue an education-related degree; and who are active in athletics.

Established in 2004 by OCCF to honor the man who was a coach, a teacher, a principal, a community leader, a veteran of World War II, a mentor, the first executive director of Owen County Community Foundation, and a friend. Mr. Fulford meant so much to so many people in Owen County and this scholarship continues his legacy by providing financial aid to an OVHS senior pursuing a four-year post-secondary degree. Mr. John Moore contributed to our Owen County communities for 35 years as a teacher and as a basketball coach at Spencer-Owen Community Schools. He established this scholarship in 1998 to recognize a college-bound Owen Valley graduating senior who has excelled in academic and athletic achievement and participation.

Donate Josephine Brown Owens Scholarship
Established in 2003 by Wayne & Emily Mobley in memory of Josephine Brown Owens, a longtime math teacher in Owen County. The Josephine Brown Owens Scholarship awards an annual scholarship to an Owen Valley High School graduating senior who is identified by the math department to be a top-ranking math student of that class. The recipient must plan to pursue a two or four-year degree at an accredited college.

Donate Judy Hamilton Education Scholarship
The Judy Hamilton Education Scholarship Fund supports Owen County residents who are adults returning to college or college students continuing to pursue a Bachelor's Degree. Judy Hamilton, winner of the 1959 Advertising Club of Indianapolis Woman of the Year award, was an outdoor enthusiast, avid photographer, and served on the board of OCCF. Judy's bequest established this scholarship in 2007.

Open to adult residents who will be college sophomores, juniors, and seniors and to Owen County adults returning to college. Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited Indiana college or university to pursue an undergraduate teaching degree, preferably in elementary education.

Dr. John and Carol Brown established this scholarship in 1998 in honor of Carol’s parents, Lyle and Marion Brighton, who were long-time residents of Gosport. This fund provides an annual scholarship to an Owen Valley High School graduating senior who is pursuing a two or four-year degree from an accredited university or technical program.

  Donate MacMorran Family Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2021 by Terrie and Frances MacMorran, of Spencer, to provide financial assistance to an Owen County resident with at least one year of college already completed. The MacMorran family hopes that through this financial boost, students will be able to get a step up to continue pursuing their post-secondary education goals. This scholarship provides financial assistance to an Owen County resident with at least one year of college already completed. Financial need must be demonstrated and special consideration will be given to single parents.

Established in 2021 by cousins, Sandy Butts and Janet Long, who wished to pay homage to their careers in skilled trades and to honor their beloved family members, Dorotha Monroe, Rosalie Long, and Charles Butts. This scholarship is awarded to an Owen Valley graduating senior who demonstrates a strong work ethic and who plans to pursue a Certificate, Technical Certificate, or Associate Degree at Ivy Tech Community College, Vincennes University, or other accredited trade school in Indiana. Preference is given to students enrolling in a business, welding, or construction program.

Donate Our Community Bank Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Owen County residents who are graduating seniors of an accredited high school, who are planning to attend a college or or university to pursue a Bachelor's Degree or to attend any vocational program of less than four years, which will lead to a diploma aligned to a particular vocation, for example, Medical or Dental Assistant, Business, or other technical training. Three (3) letters of recommendation are required; financial need is preferred.

The Owen County IU Varsity Club Scholarship is available to Owen County residents who are current year graduating seniors of Owen Valley High School. Applicants may use the scholarship award to attend Indiana University to pursue a four-year degree. Selection will be based on academic performance during high school including grade point average, course difficulty, and academic honors and awards. In the case of a tie, financial need will determine the recipient.

Scholarship open to Owen Valley High School graduating seniors who are members in good standing of the Owen Valley FFA Chapter and who are pursuing post-high school education in any area, preferably a program longer than one year. Selection criteria include academic achievement, FFA activities, SAE (supervised agricultural experiences), and participation in other organizational activities. Financial need will serve as a tiebreaker as needed.

Donate PFC Brett Wood Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2011 to honor the memory and sacrifice of our own fallen hero, Brett Wood. PFC Brett Wood gave his life in defense of our nation in September of 2011. The award is presented annually to an Owen Valley graduating senior pursuing a 4-year degree who has shown through their work and an essay that they understand and live the values of the U.S Army: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.

The Robert & Barbara Stanley Bonness Scholarship is available to Owen County residents who are current year graduating seniors of Owen Valley High School and whose class ranking in the graduating class falls in the second 10% (11% to 20%). Applicants may use the scholarship award to attend Purdue University (any campus) to pursue a 4-year degree in the College of Agriculture or College of Consumer and Family Sciences. Selection criteria include demonstrating a balance of academic achievement, community service, and leadership. Financial need will serve as the criterion for a tiebreaker as needed.

The recipient must demonstrate general leadership abilities and academic success. Financial need will serve as the criterion for a tiebreaker as needed.

Donate Sons of American Legion Joe Carmichael Memorial Scholarship
The Sons of the American Legion Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 to honor Joe Carmichael, the original founder of the Spencer Sons of the American Legion. The Sons of American Legion exists to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires. This fund produces an annual scholarship for graduating seniors Owen County students pursuing a two or four-year degree at an accredited college, university, or technical school. Students must submit a special essay and priority will be given to students with a connection to the club.

This fund provides financial support for 4 Tri Kappa scholarships and for building the endowment for the Lillian Dyar Memorial Fund. Tri Kappa will provide annual pass-through gifts for scholarship awards to add to the fund's payout. Scholarships awarded include: 1. Continuing Education Scholarship: Post-secondary scholarship awarded to an Owen County resident who is a female student returning to a 2-yr or 4-yr college or technical program after an absence and who is over age 25. 2. Lillian Dyar Music Scholarship: Awarded to an OVHS graduating senior who is an outstanding music student and who is pursuing a degree from a 2-yr or 4-yr college or technical program. 3. Vocational Scholarship:(Memorial Scholarship) Awarded to an OVHS graduating senior who will attend a vocational or community college as a full-time student. 4. Cochrane-Royer Scholarship: Based on academic performance and is awarded to an Owen Valley High School graduating senior pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Donate William Truax Family Scholarship
Scholarship to celebrate the nearly 200 years of Truaxs in Owen County and to honor William Truax, who moved to Gosport, IN in 1823. The scholarship is open to all who wish to pursue a postsecondary education or workforce training program. A donation in honor or memory of a specific Traux family member may be made by checking the "Donation in Memory or Honor" box and including the name of the individual.

Special Project Funds
Donate Community Children's Christmas Fund
This fund was established in 2013 to help bring holiday cheer to all of Owen County! More recently, this fund has been used to support the Shop with a Cop program that is undertaken by the Spencer Force of Police each year to help children in need receive necessities while fostering a positive relationship with local law enforcement.
Donate COVID Recovery Fund
This fund was established in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which affected the lives of so many, even right here in Owen County. This fund exists to provide ongoing support for small businesses, non-profit organizations, and special projects which have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.
Donate Disaster Recovery Fund
This fund was established in response to the flood of 2008 which drastically impacted the lives of Owen County residents. This fund exists to provide support in the wake of natural disasters and emergency situations. It has provided aid for the good works of the COAD and Rebuild Owen County Committees.
